This weekend we take GO Roadshow on the road for 12 shows over 3 days at Artscape in Baltimore. Artscape is ‘America’s Largest Free Arts Festival’. We will park our truck at the intersection of Charles and Preston and perform July 20, 21 and 22 at noon, 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 daily! Memo to myself: Bring sunblock. Hope to see you there!
Squonk you very much!
A big Squonk ‘Thank You’ to everyone who contributed to our Kickstarter campaign. We exceeded our goal and will be able to make the next performance of GO Roadshow that much ‘Squonkier’. Look for us all around Pittsburgh this summer as well as in Baltimore, Morgantown and Cleveland. We also wanted to thank everyone who braved the heat and $5 lemonades to see us at the Three Rivers Arts Festival. We had a fantastic time and were very happy to make new friends and fans.
Astro-rama at the Steel Stacks!

A walk down memory lane
Help us celebrate ’20 Squonkin’ Years’ as Squonk Opera turns 20 this year. We have been posting photos from our archives at our Facebook page. Also stay tuned for a brand new Squonk show this summer!
Strange sightings in Cleveland
This week, Squonk Opera set out to investigate the strange sightings on the Superior Viaduct during IngenuityFest in Cleveland. Check out this video. Hope Steve survived his interrogation.
Squonk Opera brings peace to the cosmos…or at least the tri-state area!
We are staging Astro-rama, our big free outdoor show, at Cleveland’s hip annual IngenuityFest, one of America’s largest festivals of art and technology, on September 16 and 17 at 9:30 pm. We will be on a spectacular cantilevered bridge with “the best view in Cleveland” serving as our backdrop. Because the show is about our unity as a species on this tiny planet, we have decided to broach one of the most ancient animosities between our peoples. Cleveland has offered an olive branch to us Pittsburghers and all other citizens in the form of discounted hotel rooms at the beautiful downtown Crowne Plaza. To book your room at the low rate of $79/night, you MUST mention “Riverocity” when making your reservation. Just go to http://hotelsdowntowncleveland.com/ or call 216.771.7600. Please join us in this humanitarian effort to keep the peace and erase the rancor that has haunted our two proud cities!
Fun in Frostburg, MD
We just got back from a fabulous trip to Frostburg, Maryland – where we performed Astro-rama on the Upper Quad at Frostburg State University! The show was a great success – over 800 Frostburgers came out to help us beam our message of humanity out to the universe. A big Squonk thanks to Bill, Mary Jane, Melanie, the Frostburg techies and the student helpers for making it happen! Check out our tour photos on our Facebook page. We’re off to Cleveland next week for Astro shows on September 16 and 17 at 9.30 pm at Ingenuity Fest. Come join us!
Squonk’s Got Bloggers!
Check out this interesting blog post about art vs. pop culture. It mentions our experience on America’s Got Talent and features commentary from our very own Steve O’Hearn.
